Wild Sweets – Extravagant Cream Puffs and Chocolate Iced Tea

I have visited many mom and pop shops/restaurants in my lifetime and every time I walk into a business where the owners are super passionate about what they’re doing, I can tell because the passion exudes into their product. Wild Sweets is one of those businesses where you can tell the couple Dominique and Cindy Duby just absolutely LOVES what they do.

I was invited to their tasting of their new summer menu and this is their take on a classic “Iced Tea”. Because they make their chocolate bars from cocoa beans, a lot of the husks are thrown out and discarded. They decided to repurpose it for the uses of tea. They created a chocolate tea using purely cocoa bean husks and a touch of vanilla bean, and mixed it with various pure fruit purees to get these Chocolate Fruit Iced Teas.

The drinks come in 5 flavours. Strawberry, White Pear, Lychee Raspberry, Morello Cherry, and Apricot Passion. My personal favourites are the Lychee Raspberry and Strawberry.

This is their Summer 2017 Collection chocolates featuring 2 types of fillings including a fruit based caramel and a ‘creme fraiche vanille’. They are designed to be eaten straight from the fridge so they keep their textural consistency. The flavours come in Liquid Strawberry, Liquid Apricot, Liquid Blackberry, and Liquid Mango.

One of their coolest items is their C|Puff2 which is essentially a super souped up cream puff. Their Praline Cream flavour features a hazlenut praline custard cream, white chocolate Chantilly mousse, black berries, apricot passion confit, and orange liquor aroma. The hazelnut flavours really shine through so if you’re a hazelnut fan, you’ll likely love this.

As you can see, all of their cream puffs are gorgeous and can rival any Beta 5 cream puff. 😀 Taste-wise I can’t compare because I’ve actually never tried Beta 5 cream puffs before. This is the Chocolate Cream C|Puff2 and it features a combination of fresh raspberries and dark chocolate, as well as red fruit confit and red fruit Kirch aroma.

The ones we tasted were more simply dressed but nevertheless, they were absolutely delicious. Fruit and chocolate go so well together, it’s hard to go wrong.

All in all, Wild Sweets is a place you MUST try if you are are into the science of chocolate and want to taste the difference of a bean-to-bar chocolate made right here in your own neighbourhood. They are open on Saturdays from 10am-4pm, and again on Sundays from 12-4pm.
