Faubourg (Downtown) – Looks Beautiful…andd That’s About it

The second location of Faubourg opened up on Hornby Street in downtown and I went in there recently to try their ‘famous’ macarons.
Their macarons are $2 each, similar pricing to other macaron patisseries in Vancouver.

They have really cool seating inside. I even went back a second time within the week and ate a panini while reading a nice book. Really cool place to chill.

Right when you walk in you’ll see the large array of macarons on display. The colours are vibrant which look visually appealing but I personally have a slight distaste for it because I don’t like eating large amounts of artificial colours.

Their small assorted box of pastries almost got me because it looked SO AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL!

I got six Macarons ($2/ea) which included flavours like Strawberry Black Pepper, Raspberry Rose, Lemon, Lavender Earl Grey, etc.

The macarons had the right consistency and texture (nice foot on the bottom, cracked easily yet held its shape, and smooth flat top) but that was all that was good about it. 90% of the flavours I got tasted artificial and untrue to its name. Moreover, the macaron was way too sugary and left me craving water to wash it down.

As great as they looked, these were a complete let down. I don’t think I’ll come back for their macarons again but I might give their other pastries and sandwiches a try.
