Wo Fung Noodle House – Quick Cheap Eats

If you are a fan of the famous ‘fried chicken wings’ from Wo Fung Noodle Express in Aberdeen Center, you’re going to be happy to know that they have opened up two stand alone noodle shops in Richmond! The first location opened up on Alexandra road (read my post about it here), and the second, newest location is on Park Road right next to Kumare.

On random weekday nights when I don’t feel like cooking yet I don’t want to spend a lot on food, I would turn to a place like Wo Fung Noodle House for a quick cheap dinner.

Their menu is simple, this side speaks to their drinks and snacks, the other side is all about their noodles. My snack recommendations: DEFINITELY the Deep Fried Chicken Wings, the Deep Fried Stuffed Tofu, and the Deep Fried Squid Tentacles.

The noodle entrees are their specialty, and you can choose the type of noodle you want, as well as two main ingredients. I like how everything is customizable so every time I visit I can get something different.

We got the Deep Fried Stuffed Tofu (4 pcs/$4.50) and this was fried to perfection. Essentially these are tofu blocks stuffed with dace fish paste and deep fried until golden brown. It was served with a rich hoisin sauce which I don’t believe is entirely necessary as the tofu was incredibly tasty on its own.

If you have never tried Wo Fung’s deep fried chicken wings before, I 100% recommend you order it. I believe they are better than the Phnom Penh’s famous chicken wings and that’s saying a lot. Very rarely does it disappoint and it always leaves me wanting more.

For my noodles, I chose wontons, beef tendon, and flat rice noodles. The broth is light yet flavourful, and it automatically comes with two veggies: gai lan and oyster mushrooms. All in all, it’s a good light meal and on a cold windy night, nothing warms you up faster than a bowl of noodles like this.

For our bill of 2 snacks and 2 entrees, it only came up to about $15 per person with tips so it’s not an expensive dinner at all. And to be honest it was $15 and not $10 per person because we got greedy and ordered 2 unnecessary appies. The two bowls of noodles would already suffice for an average appetite. 😛
