Kirby’s Top Picks for Dine Out Vancouver Festival 2013

It’s the time of year again! Dine Out Vancouver is back once again and will only be around from Jan 18-Feb 3, 2013. They have over 200 restaurants listed as well as lunch menus, gluten free, and vegetarian options.

They added quite a few more restaurants to the list as well as some new restaurants so this might be a good opportunity to try out places you have been eyeing for a while but haven’t really gotten around to trying.

I know I won’t be able to try out every restaurant on my list but here are my top picks for Dine Out Vancouver 2013:

  • DIVA at the Met
    • $38 Menu, Gluten-Free Menu Option
    • With options like Chicken Liver Parfait and Thai Glazed Pork Belly, how can you not want to try this place out?

  • Fraiche Restaurant
    • $38 Menu, Gluten- Free Menu Option
    • ’63-degree egg’.. what the heck? Weird items like this intrigue me.

  • Fray
    • $18 Menu
    • I heard the Portobello fries are amazing and Maple Bacon Jam Burger?? I’m there. Who’s with me?

  • Five Sails Restaurant
    • $38 Menu, Gluten-Free Menu Option
    • I have a soft spot for anything with mushrooms so their “Roasted Porcini Mushroom Soup” sounds delicious
    • “Slowly braised boneless Wagyu Beef Short Ribs with Ginger scented Wild Prawns”. Enough Said.

  • Minami Restaurant
    • $38 Menu
    • One word, Aburi. Read my post on “Miku” (their sister restaurant) if you don’t know what aburi is!
    • their “Piemonte Panna Cotta and Bitter Orange Sorbet Cassis Coulis” sounds delicious as well

  • The Oakwood Canadian Bistro
    • $28 Menu, Gluten-Free Menu Option
    • the price is more appealing for penny pinchers like me
    • Again, the mushrooms get me–> “Wild Mushroom Risotto, House Truffle Oil, Provolone Gratine”
    • I love unusual combinations like their “apple wasabi butter”
I haven’t actually tried any of these restaurants yet, but when I do, I will write a post on it. To read my Dine Out Vancouver 2012 posts, click here (some restaurants I went to are serving Dine Out this year).
