Garden City Hot Pot- They Serve Dim Sum!

Before my friend Trixie informed me, I never knew that
Garden City Hot Pot was opened for dim sum in the morning! Her family comes
here often so this is their go-to dim sum place. On one particular day, I
followed Trixie and her family to eat dim sum here (I know…I’m such an intruder LOL).

We first ordered the Japanese Style Spring Roll ($5.25) because
Trixie said they make them really good here. I really enjoyed them as the
shells were crispy, and the shrimp filling tasted fresh. I would recommend this
dish.

Next is the ever popular “har gow”
also known as Shrimp Dumpling ($5.25). These
were delicious and plump, but pretty typical, as I normally don’t encounter any bad
shrimp dumplings at other dim sum restaurants.

We also ordered a huge pot of Meat Ball + Chicken Fillet Congee ($4.95
Congee base + $4.50 for each topping)
. Boy, was the congee good! I didn’t
take a picture of it but they give you a bowl of toppings which included green
onion, salted peanuts, and pickled vegetable. I really think adding the
toppings made the congee THAT much tastier.

The Pan Fried Rice Roll and Fish Paste in Maggie Sauce ($6.95) tasted
pretty average. I probably wouldn’t order it again though because I can get this cheaper somewhere else. 😛

We ordered the Baked BBQ Pork Bun ($4.95) but we
devoured it before I got a chance to take a picture. It was okay, but the “Empress
Buns” (same thing) at Vivacity Restaurant (my post here) were WAYY
better.

Lastly, we ordered the Deep Fried Durian Roll ($4.95) and it was quite good!! Anyone who
likes Durian will appreciate this soft and warm durian roll. 😀 If you don’t
like it, beware, because it will ‘stink’ up your whole table. Muahaha!
